Fresh Water categories include: Bass, Bream and Catfish.

Landry Fore Memorial Kids Fishing Tournament Presented by the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo.
Thursday July 2, 2026 through Saturday July 4, 2026

The following rules will apply for the Junior Division of the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo
  • All contestants must be between ages 3 to 12; boys and girls are eligible to fish; no advance registration is required. 

 

  • All Kids entering a fish will receive a soft drink and a snack, and a Tee Shirt (one shirt per contestant to the first 200 entering) 

 

  • All fishing will begin at 6:00 AM on July 2nd (Rodeo Day 1) and end at 4:00 PM July 4th (Rodeo Day 3). All fish must be caught during the specified dates and times of the tournament. 

 

  • Fishing is allowed anywhere in the coastal area, and fish may be caught from a dock, pier, boat, beach, harbor, bay or pond. (BASICLY ANYWHERE ONE CAN CATCH A FISH.) 

 

  • Scales open Thursday and Friday July 2nd 3rd  and on July 4th  from 12:00 Noon and close at 4:00 PM. Contestants must be in line and documented by closing time, NO EXCEPTIONS. Closure of scales will be announced by Weigh Master. 

 

  • Contestants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All contestants must furnish their own bait and tackle. 

 

  • Only one (1)  Fish per category, per contestant, can be entered.

  • SALTWATER SPECIES: Speckled Trout, Redfish, white trout, croaker Ground Mullet, flounder, Sheepshead, drum.

  • FRESHWATER SPECIES: Bass, Bream, Catfish (NO HARD HEAD     CATFISH CAN BE ENTERED)

  • The fish with the heaviest weight will determine the winner. In case of a tie, the first fish weighed in will be determined by the winner.

  • All fish entering the rodeo property will become property of the MSDSFR and placed on public display throughout the event for as long as determined by rodeo staff. 

​

  • Each angler must comply with all state FISHING REGULATIONS of size and creel limits. Please do not bring in an illegal fish to weigh in, PLEASE MEASURE TWICE. 

 

  • ALL DECISIONS OF THE WEIGHMASTER WILL BE FINAL! THE CONDITION OF ALL FISH AND ALL COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES OF THE MSDSFR WILL BE SUBJECT TO THE FINAL DECISION OF THE WEIGHMASTER. 

 

  • Participants enter the MSDSFR at their own risk: neither the MSDSFR, the individual tournament(s) within the MSDSRF nor any Director, Coordinator, or any person associated with the MSDSFR shall be held liable for any injury, harm, or negligence to any person for any reason. 

 

 

KING AND QUEEN FRESH AND SALTWATER CATEGORIES 

 

On the last day of the Kids Rodeo, Rodeo, July 4th the following criteria will determine the King and Queen for both saltwater and freshwater categories. (No Exceptions) 

 • Each species of fish calculated by: 

  • 1st Place will be awarded 5 points. 

  • 2nd Place will be awarded 4 points. 

  • 3rd Place will be awarded 3 points. 

  • 4th Place will be awarded 2 points. 

  • 5th  Place will be awarded 1 point. 

 

In the event of a tie: 

 

The most 1st place fish will be awarded 1 additional point per 1st place position.  

 

If a tie still exists: 

 

•  The angler will be awarded 1 additional point, for each 2nd place fish on final board.      

 

The final tie breaker will be decided by a toss of a coin. 

 

ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE UP TO BUT NOT AFTER THE START OF THE RODEO ON JULY 2, 2026.
